Recently, my department of my college organized us to apply for “the Hopeful Star” English Competition. Living as the English leader of my class, I have to sign up.
However, I’ve spotted that competitions aren’t actually competitions anymore, many people call them as exams.
Even the LED screen at the Arena shows the word “Examination Point”, how lamentable this is!
When stepping in, the leaders shows signs with “The Nth Arena”.
进去之后 点名 第一个被点到的就是我。当时我心中瞬间有一万匹草泥马在奔腾啊！After coming in, a roll call started, I was the 1st one. At that moment, I want to say “WTF”! There are thousands of Alpaca running in my brain!
(Alpaca means 草泥马 in Chinese, which shares the same pronounciation with “motherf**ker”)
I did’t know that I wound give a speech in front of all people in the room, moreover, I am the 1st one! Ok, when my turn comes, my legs were shaking.
Here’s the result: (I need to wait until Nov.26 to know if I am promoted)
Oh… ok, I don’t deny that I often pull on consonants. But, 2 ticks are already less, some people’s cards are full of red marks.
In the beginning, I was very nervous. But after finished, I ‘ve spotted that many people just read instead of recite, some tried to recite but failed, even ran out of their 90 seconds’ time. I said “too many trollers”, Then I left.
I always think easy things difficult.
However, in the QQ group, there are still many people calling “Certificates of Participation” as “Admission Tickets”, asking each other “How was your exam?”
Sigh! Competitions are just competitions. If you recognize them as exams, the taste will be changed, and you will be more stressed.
Maybe you guys just fit in calling them “exams”, because we are always taking exams in our life.
Tomorrow is the 26th, I am waiting for the results. 45% of us will be eliminated in Round 1.
